I would suggest to avoid the middle east in August: to hot!!!

I can say Amsterdam  :D  but you visit it already. Maybe Scotland? ??

My suggestion would be British Columbia,Canada. If your into sightseeing ,adventure and great scenery.
August is a great time weather wise.
Fly to Vancouver,rent a car or RV big enough for 4 ,drive thru the Rocky Mountains to Banff Alberta and than to Jasper Alberta and than back to Vancouver.
And if you still have time go over to Vancouver Island and tour around there for a couple of days or more.

Srilanka is a Island, all the sides sea......more than 15000 years historical places,
Nepal is totally mountain range of Himalayas......
Bhutan though its near to Nepal you can enjoy this small country will good climate........
