I just came back from International Maternity hospital in Saigon. They say the fetus has stopped beating and wrote this in Vietnamese which I dont understand.

Tu cung :

- tu the nga truoc
- digs km
-mat do: khong u
-long: Co 1 tui thai, Co 1 phoi, tim thai khong thay, cross is 13mm

Buong trung:

-phải: co echo day # (49 x 41) mm
Trai: khong u, khong nang

1 thai luu trong TC# 7.5 tuan
TD: U bi BT (P)

I dont understand what u is in English but it seems to be the main root of the problem. We had 2 sieu am last week both positive with heart beating so I am totally confuse now and my lack of Vietnamese doesn't help.

Tomorrow we are going to get an abortion so any help on this matter before the abortion would be greatly appreciated.

Tu cung : (womb, uterus)

- tu the nga truoc (position: fall ahead)
- digs km
-mat do: khong u (outside: no swell)
-long: Co 1 tui thai, Co 1 phoi, tim thai khong thay, cross is 13mm (inside: there is 1 embryo/foetus bag, there is 1 lung, heart of embryo/foetus not beat, cross is 13mm)

Buong trung: (ovary)

-phải: co echo day # (49 x 41) mm (right: has echo, thick # 49x41 mm)
Trai: khong u, khong nang (left: no swell, no pouch)

1 thai luu trong TC# 7.5 tuan (1 embryo/foetus dead in womb #7.5 week)
TD: U bi BT (P) (sorry, even myself can not understand this short-cut words)

Please check with the doctor one more time tomorrow to make sure if everything is the same as the test result.

Digs km is Dkts: mm

We decided to have the abortion at Tu Du despite residing in Dong Nai. Her benefits only has coverage in Dong Nai but her health is more important and I think Saigon has better health Facilities and doctors. After her system is cleaned out they can assess if this 'u' or echo whatever that is needs to be surgically removed or medication can make it go away.

Last week we went to 2 seperate clinics for ultrasound.

Thanks so much for your translation.

What I understand from the above is : a 7.5 weeks old fetus is dead and need a MTP. Sorry to hear that!

Thanks for the condolences. We're heading to Tu Du 4am to have the fetus removed and get a 2nd opinion on the tumor in her right Fallopian tube.

Khanh, I am sorry to hear about your loss. My wife was a practicing VN doctor before moving to the US to study for her US medical license. I asked her to translate the write-up for you. Her translation is given below. On the positive side, she said that they see a lot of cases like this in VN that are able to go on and have a healthy pregnancy. She recommends following up on the ovarian growth to figure out what is going on there. She said that because the left ovary looks normal, there is a good chance that you will be able to have a healthy pregnancy in the future.

Tu cung : = ( Uterus)

- tu the nga truoc = (The position of the uterus is forward. That means that there is something inside. It could be a fetus or an abnormal growth)
- digs km = (they measured the size of the growth or fetus)
-mat do: khong u = (Outside the uterus, there are no signs of tumors)
-long: Co 1 tui thai, Co 1 phoi, tim thai khong thay, cross is 13mm = (Inside the uterus, they see one fetus, but only one lung. They cannot see the heart. The width is 13mm.)

Buong trung: = (Ovary)

-phải: co echo day # (49 x 41) mm = (Right side of the ovary, thickness is 49 X 41 mm. That means that there is some growth in that side of the ovary.)
Trai: khong u, khong nang = (Left side of the ovary is normal. No mass or growth.)

1 thai luu trong TC# 7.5 tuan = (The diagnosis is a dead fetus inside the uterus at 7.5 weeks old)
TD: U bi BT (P) = (Follow up on the tumor on the right ovary. In this case, tumor doesn't mean cancer; it means "ovarian neoplasm" or abnormal ovarian growth on the right ovary.)
