Hi Friends- I am Surya, got offer from an University in KSA. to join as  a Post-doc.
They have offered me accommodation inside campus. I have applied to family visa.
Somewhere I read that Iqama is required to bring family. My position has option to bring family.
I would like to know  can I bring my spouse along with me?

Please clarify my doubts, I would be very thankful for this.

Thanks.

Surya

You can bring your spouse on a visit visa in some special cases. Most companies do not allow that and will tell you to wait for your iqama before you can bring your family over. Once you have your iqama, you can sponsor your family.

I guess veen to bring them using visit visa you need your IQAMA, visit of family someone cannot apply without an IQAMA, if i am not wrong others plz support my reply.....

live.ali & suribhai,
What you said both is correct.
Some companies for some reasons can let their employee bring his family even though he/she is on a business visit visa. But It depends on how much the company (employer) has cooperativeness toward this subject.

And of course the common method of bringing family either on a visit visa or with residence permit applies directly once the employee has his Iqama issued, provided his profession allow that !

@ Prof. Surya, your profession allows you for both visas.
Also I want to tell you a story about one of my doctors in my university in Jordan, his story is similar to yours.
He got an offer for two years from KSU, so at the beginning he came here and was able to bring his wife with him on the business visit visa. Then he got his iqamah later and he was making his wife a visit visa from while to while as he didn't want to issue her an Iqama for his convenient reasons.

So, I urge you to discuss with the uni the available options if you can bring your husband directly along with you or he has to wait till they make your Iqama.

Wish you best luck !!
