schools and accommodation suggestions

Post new topic

my husband has just been offered a position in KL - I have 2 children aged 7 and nearly 12 - just in the process of looking at areas to live and schooling.  Damanarsa heights and Bansar have been mentioned.  Any suggestions which is best or any better?  Also Garden Intl School and British Intl School have been mentioned - are they close to these areas and any preference? Thanks in advance for any feedback or suggestions - how daunting this is!!

BIS is in Damansara area. No schools close to Bangsar. This may help you budget and see what the schools can offer.
http://schooladvisor.my/?p=schools.You may want to check out Mont Kiara which has 2 schools in easy access.

many thanks for taking the time to give me some advice - much appreciated.  I will have a look at Mont Kiara also.

Bangsar is quite popular and lots of expats live there but as Gravitas says there are no international schools nearby and the public transport is not good there, although most of the schools have school buses to pick up and drop off. I went to the British International School on the weekend as they had a jumble sale and it's quite nice. A lot of expats live in Mont Kiara where they have two popular international schools, Garden Int'l School and Mont Kiara Int'l School. It's a nice resort type place but without good public transport. A lot may depend on where you husband will be working too.

thanks - very helpful.  I appreciate your time :-) I think we have narrowed it down to either the Garden Intl or the British International - just have to decide which and choose the area - happy surfing!!  Thanks again for your help.

I would suggest you seriously consider BIS, as they seem to have the fairest entry conditions and fees.

There are some newly constructed condos very close to the school. Personally, I find Mont Kiara is a concrete jungle with a motorway running over the top of parts of it.  Garden International is also hemmed in by overhead flyovers.

But GIS is an established school with a long track record. BIS isn't (although I note with a new head who seems good and willing to change things but a bad reputation with teachers at the moment if you ask some that is)
