Cost of living in Dubai compared to North India

Hi folks,

I just got a job offer to work in Dubai the company is giving accommodation for 2 weeks  and then i have to search my own

The following are the Question in my mind

What is the cost of living
-Housing cost
- Fuel Cost
- Traveling Cost
- Food cost
- other thing which i miss out folks

I am having own house i India and my cost of living is very low and i working in lower management and is i wise that i will make a shift.

I hope some one will ans me

They're impossible questions to answer because they depend what you want. Accommodation is very very expensive - but some people live 10 to a room so they can pay less. But 'batchelors' - people without there family - can only live in certain accommodation and areas. And the government is cracking down on overcrowding in accommodation and evicting the residents. A studio apartment in one of the cheapest new developments, International City, is over AED40,000 a year. You could check the classified advertisements in www.gulfnews.com for an idea of rents.

Travelling cost depends where from/to.  The bus service is getting better but doesn't yet cover all areas. The Metro train won't start running until the end of 2009. Taxis are AED3 flagfall plus AED1.60 per kilometre.

Food costs are still cheap I think, but I can't compare with N. India. There are many inexpensive Indian restaurants all over the city.
