Thanks Arlette. I gave those classifieds a look, but ill go over them once more just in case anything new pops up.

Do a bit of internet searching, as well, schulz.  You might not find a compound, but could easily find a foreigner-friendly building.

I've done some scouting for Riyadh apartments for friends and have found that the internet can be a good resource.

Get your friend to look for Villa's to rent close to your ambulance or hospital base - you may need to live close to work because of your shifts. These Villas can be pretty large with up to 5 en suite rooms; you may want to share with other paramedics and form your own commune to cut costs. And then you have transport costs if you are not going to get yourself a car.

I would come and see if you can stand the heat and that you like your job before you commit to a contract for a villa. If you want a compound, the best way is to put your name on all available waiting lists and talk to the Manager. It is all about being persistant. If you know anyone already living on a compound so much the better. A personal recommendation works wonders. Do your homework though as the traffic is awful at peak times and you need to be on the right side of town for your work. Happy Hunting
