Hey everyone
A couple of my electric guitars are not playing as well as they should be, and I know they need a setup by a professional guitar tech. Any such technician known to you guys, here in HCMC? Somebody with a bit of experience and reputation - my guitars are not priceless but they're very precious to me so I don't want to simply give them to anybody claiming to be a tech and who doesn't know what they're doing!

I've been to the 'guitar street', but I was not able to find anyone very capable in the electric guitar department. Please let me know if you can recommend any person/shop. I'm trying to avoid a trip to Singapore just to get this done smile.png
Thanks!

Hello all,

I would suggest you place an advert in our Engineering and Technical services job offers in Ho Chi Minh City and state that you are looking for a technician who can offer their services.

This might help.

Regards

There is a  a half-kilometre meter strip of NGUYEN THIEN THUAT street (between NGUYEN THI MINH KHAI & NGUYEN DINH CHIEU streets) with around 20 guitar shops.  A popular one is Duy Ngoc (named after the owner), and another builder, Binh  at Tam Hiep @ 36 Nguyen Thien Thuat.

Try to take A Vietnamese person with you, some of these guitar specialists don't speak English and can appear rude to uni lingual customers.

Alternately, get a VN friend to write your needs down in VNese for you.

Sorry guys I caught on to this thread a bit late. Anyone needs a professional setup on electrics/acoustics PM me. I run a guitar custom shop. I believe I'm the only American certified guitar tech in town

Thanks for all the replies guys. I actually managed to sort this out, but it's good to know of a tech for any future needs smile.png Hue1964, just PM'd you smile.png

I have checked out the 'guitar street' quite a few times, and the acoustics there are great. But I've not seen many electrics over there. Maybe coz I've not looked - the only times I went there, I went to Duy Ngoc. Around 4 years back, I got a gem of a guitar for around $70. Not the best build (body is developing a few cracks) but it sounds amazing. Last month, I went back, but the prices have shot up. I tried a couple of guitars around the $200-300 price range, and wasn't impressed

I guess I should try checking out any places selling used electrics. I'm looking for a tube amp right now, actually - hoping to find a used one somewhere for cheap smile.png

Hi
I would really like someone to look at some buzzing frets and possibly change my pickups. Is this something you can do?

Hubert is definitely the man for the job, highly recommended. I've had setups, fret work, pickup changes, everything was done up to really high standard. Contact him through his Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/2500905 … 3/?fref=nf

Hubert Leong is the guy. Cheers
