Short Validity Passport

Post new topic

shamsherexpat

Dear Brothers,

I had lost my original passport 6 months back and was issued a new passport, but the validity is only 1 year from the date of issue.

In this regard what is the procedure to restore the full validity of a SVP
can I travel to my home country on a short validity passport...???
will be questioned by the immigration authorities for loss of my original passport...???
do i need to carry any ID Proof to prove my nationality..????

Please, waiting for your valuable answers/suggestions.

With thanks & regards,

James

Your short term passport is just as valid for travel anywhere in the world as your original passport was, why would it be any different?

You had to obtain the passport either from your home country's passport issuing authority or from your Embassy/Consulate abroad and I'm sure they wouldn't have issued the document if there was any doubt about your identity. Why then would you think that you'd have any problems getting back into your home country? You do still have other documents from your homeland to prove your identity, don't you? Things like Driver's License, Voter's Registration, credit cards and the like, I'm sure.

William said it very well. That's the reason you were issued a temporary passport: so that you don't get stuck at any point.

Next step for you: visit your embassy and apply for a full term passport (5-10 years whatever applicable).
