Hi,
I am working in UAE for the last 12 yrs and now have got the following offer from an Oman FMCG company. We are a family of 3 with a 2 year old kid.
2000 OMR all inclusive + Medical insurance ( within company's network of clinics) + No Flight tickets

My query is related to the offer mentioned above ;
1. Is this normal in Oman not to provide yearly Flight tickets for family as i enjoy currently in UAE ?
2. Is it really tough to get admission to an Indian school in Muscat ?
3. Is it difficult to get a job for my wife who is currently employed in the UAE banking sector ?
3. What will be rent for a 2BHK in a decent locality spread with Indian community ?
4. I have my car mortgaged by UAE bank - can it be transferred or buy-out made to an Oman bank ?

Awaiting your all expert advises.

Regards

Hello Ommsdxb,

Companies by law are supposed to provide employees with medical insurance as well as annual paid vacation + airfare to the nearest airport of their hometown. It is quite surprising that the company which has offered you the job is not doing so. It amounts to not following the rules.

Find my answers / comments against your queries below :

1. Is this normal in Oman not to provide yearly Flight tickets for family as i enjoy currently in UAE ?  No. Like I mentioned, it is illegal.
2. Is it really tough to get admission to an Indian school in Muscat ?  Yes. Absolutely.
3. Is it difficult to get a job for my wife who is currently employed in the UAE banking sector ?  Yes. Most definitely.
3. What will be rent for a 2BHK in a decent locality spread with Indian community ?  R.O. 350/- to R.O. 500/- per month.
4. I have my car mortgaged by UAE bank - can it be transferred or buy-out made to an Oman bank ?  Yes.

I must also add that after having spent over a decade working in the UAE, you will find the work culture and lifestyle in Oman totally the opposite. Many who are used to and like the fast paced life of Dubai / UAE have problems adjusting to the comparatively sedentary lifestyle of Muscat / Oman.

Best of luck.
