Any car enthusiasts here? My husband and I spent a lot of time going on cruises and other car related events in Australia. Any one go on drives for leisure here? We only have his work vehicle here which isn't as nice as his WRX back home, but would still be good to take a drive or other car related activities now and then.

i wish i had drivers license in Kuwait, would love to go off road and overspeed at night on freeways.

@lleela We sometimes do that when we don't know where to go exactly, but the country is too small for such cruises. My favorite driving places are Gulf road in early mornings, Doha road (the way to entertainment city) and the coastal road from Fintas to Fahaheel. It would be a nice idea for a group to rent a big car (e.g. land cruiser) and go off road to the highest point in Kuwait (I believe it is somewhere in the direction of Sulaibiya). Rent is around 25 KD per day or so. With a group of 5 it will go 5 KD each ;)

@ace117 over-speeding on  highways has become a thing of the past with all those cameras they have now. Still, having a drivers license is a big advantage. Good luck with that.

That sounds great! It doesn't have to be anything huge, just nice going for a drive where the roads are quiet.. You have mentioned you are married in another post, am I right? Is your wife also enjoy driving? We have two little ones so it does make doing things a little more challenging at times.

You are asking me @lleela? Well, yes I am married and yes my wife drives and yes she is very independent when it comes to driving the kids around for school, outings, ... etc. She might be a better person to tell you about this. If you like I can connect you to her.

You can take a drive out to the camel farms, there's an area where you can rent buggies and ride camels and horses.

lleela

That sounds fun! Which way would we go to find that?

A great drive would be down the Gulf Road start from the scientific center (great place to take the kids for a 3D imax movie + great aquarium + dining) and go down all the way to down (you'll  Yawm alBahaar which is a cultural turn back in time little play area representing kuwait in the days before oil)

WRX,, would that be the Subaru? STI?

if you say yes you are in for a surprise :P

the camels etc. are on the 6th ring road I believe towards Jahra; if you park near Agility, they are on the other side. I remember this from my time with the DBCK (desert Biking [as in cycling] club of kuwait)

The camels I was talking about are on 6th ring head towards Wafra, a huge open area of camel farms. I have more details on my blog, just search camel farms.

I saw those camels openly on the road on the way to Kabd. Nice place for camping.

The drive to Wafra will ruin your car's paint... my poor front bumper!

i think thats why they spread that mud-like stuff on the front of cars, to protect the paint job.

must be available in shuwaikh, canada dry st. or a DIY version at ACE hardware (not owned by our friendly neighborhood Ace117, contrary to popular belief)

Moo

Yeah thats true.
The yellow paint protect the car from the flying sands while driving.

Yes Legacy - we have a WRX back in Aus. 2010 model, not an STi but we did modify her chipped etc - she is beautiful!

lleela

Thanks everyone! We will take a drive. Thanks for the tip about paint as we are in a rental so good to know!
