Satellite TV shop in HCM and some questions

Dear All,

I'm going to be in HCMC in July for a few days, and want to use that opportunity to sort out getting a DTH smart card. The shops in Phnom Penh charge between $700 and $1500 for an import card with a yearly subscription, so they're way overpriced.

Do you know a good shop in HCM that will sell a smart card for a decent price?

Just in case there's someone a bit more knowledgeable here, there are some more details: We require a smart card for some of the channels on Asiasat 3S/7 (Nat Geo, Fox, Cartoon Network, CNN etc), and don't want a box with integrated card.

Thanks an best wishes,
Jan

One, of several, satellite supplier areas is on NGUYEN THI MINH KHAI since there is a TV/radio transmitting antenna near an intersection in Quan 1.

The shops are on the same side of the TV station, between DINH THIEN HOANG and NGUYEN BINH KHIEM streets.

Take your passport, as proof of where you are living, as the dealers are a little shy since the Australian National Police started hassling them for FOX/Murdoch (these Australian cops have branches in Ha Noi and HCM). Also, VN citizens need a satellite permit to own an antenna.

There are cards which can be updated monthly, with the codes being sent by e-mail!
