AnnaXu

I am new here, Is the gathering thing still going on?

fadilaleela

I'm not sure...  :/

Gravitas

It hasnt started - waiting for a member to volunteer to suggest and carry out the arrangements.  Lots of people interested though.

AnnaXu

how about you arrange? I am new in here.. :D

Gravitas

Not my sort of thing.

fadilaleela

how about we rent a place and hired a catering to do our small gathering there.. weekend must be okay for everyone here i guess..  :unsure

pp141

I would love to be a volunteer, tell me what is the process to be a one.

Ernest

Hi all,

I suggest doing a potluck house party on Friday night. Why potluck? We r meeting a lot of new faces, we can't plan on the budget so we rather everyone contribute when coming over, either food or drinks.

Any volunteer to share their house? If not we can rent a place but cost and budget need to bare by some people together here (any other idea pls suggest). Few of us volunteers can meet up and discuss bout the plan.

Cheers.

fadilaleela

great!!

Hello everyone!

I am excited to meet some expats and locals too. But Im pretty bad at organizing a get-together party.

Im suggesting that we meet up in the early morning on weekend,
- have potluck (as suggested by Ernest) for breakfast + ice-breaking sesh
- later in the evening, sight-seeing around Putrajaya
- dinner somewhere near the place
- watch a late night movie together at a cinema

For those of you who dont know, Putrajaya is only around 30 mins away from the main city of KL.
15 mins actually, if there is no traffic.

Here are some websites I found.
putrajaya.gov.my/
putrajaya.gov.my/tourist/attractions/dining/umai_cafe_the_lake_garden_cafe

This is just a suggestion. Im not sure if you guys are okay with this :D
It would be better if someone could coordinate and volunteer to handle such event.

Following.

So Members, to try and bring this to reaity lets find out an important point:

Where (i.e. town or city) would you prefer this meet-up to take place?

From answering that it will become clear at which location it would be good to identify a coffee shop or bar, where everyone could meet up for as long as they had to spare.

If you have a particular location you would like to suggest - all the better.

mama_sing8

I follow :)

btttldmr

it could be nice ! if you need place my friend own one Turkish cafe restaurant at TTDI we can make there price  range medium ! i meals with drink cost  about 30 RM + free Turkish tea ! however no alcohol there !

Gravitas

Good - thank you btttldmr

The suggestion is TTDI - is transport going to be an issue getting there so do you need to suggest another venue that has nearby LRT/MRT or whatever?

Keep the suggestions rolling members - and then a mutually convenient venue can be agreed so that YOU CAN ACTUALLY GET TOGETHER..........!!

fadilaleela

hi there..

how about we do in Bangsar area.. if we had good respond from others .. would like to get help from you guys to get all the information that who wanna come.. and i try to get a place..

Fadila ^^

Gravitas

Suggestions: There is a separate glassed-off area at San Francisco Coffee, right at the Bangsar LRT station for possible daytime meet-ups.

There is also a large Old Town White Coffee in the same building (UOA).

There are plenty of makan places in the area too.

Gravitas

More ideas?  Can everyone get to Bangsar?  Or where else should you all meet up?

I will be in KL next week, and would like to make some new friends.

If you want to socialise around alcohol, one option is all those interested could join the Pub Crawl that starts from The Lobby near Changkat Bukit Bintang on Thursdays and Saturdays.

http://www.timeout.com/kuala-lumpur/nig … -pub-crawl

The pub crawl will bring you to four bars and one club in a night. At each venue, you are entitled to one free drink. And it will only cost you RM70 (latest prices may apply) for the entire pub crawl, for the value of RM200. Best of all, entrance to the last club is free and you can even skip the line at the door (party it up, VIP style). There’ll also be drinking games at selected bars.

All you need to do is turn up on time (between 8.45pm to 9.30pm) at Lobby Restaurant and register. Bring an open heart, or a willing liver, be merry and get acquainted. Otherwise, round up your mates and get going.

Venue start details

    Name:     Lobby Restaurant and Lounge
    Address:
    L1-2, One Residency
    1 Jalan Nagasari

gorgeouslyflawless

My partner and I are on for Bangsar. Let me knw when a decision is made for the gathering.
Breakfast is fine. I dont think we all need anything fancy. A cup of coffee or teh tarik at mamak is also good enuff. No need anything fancy. It is ice breaking time.

Gemechu Abdi

Thanks alot for your information

m3gmi

Hi! I'd like to join, too :)

Gravitas

Someone needs to organise this event or it will never happen - any volunteers?  Just need to choose a venue and date/time and let everyone know here. No fees or anything, just casual meet up and each person buys a drink /coffee etc.

diamondbell

How about this coming Thursday evening May 1 at Nexus in Bangsar South? There are many restaurants and Starbucks.... there too.

Anyone up for this get together???
