Documents Notarization

Post new topic

JD

I needed a document notarized but the Jeddah Consulate will charge $30, which I thought is ridiculous. Is anyone aware of other options? Thanks

Fly back to the united states have a county notary notarize it then take it to your capitol and have your secretary of state notarize it. Thats what I had to do with all mine, or you can pay the 30 bucks

JD

In the States I have an Account Manager at the local bank notarize it - period.

Your lucky they just took your notary. They made me take every paper that was notarized to my state capitol and have the secretary of state "notarize my notary" to confirm hes on the records as a notary.
They basically look up the notary on the records and also compare his signature to the one on your document. It was $10 per document for me in the states. My friend is a police officer and notary, so the notary itself was free.

Ive even herd of people having to to take it to the feds after your initial notary, county clerk and state notarizes it

Cost us $150 (!!!!!!)(only LAWYERS are notaries) for 2 pages and $20 for govt dept to confirm...pay the $30 and make us glad :D

We had the same issues in the states coming here - everything had to be notarized then re-notarized by the Dept of State, then it went to the Saudi Embassy for authorization, authentication & translation!  Ugh!  But I do believe its the same requirements when you are trying to get a visa for the US and most other countries.  Lots of paperwork - heck, everyone has to have a job!  lol

Alliecat

wow!  I didn't have to get anything notarized!

CAF

Thanks bc they knew who you were!  lol

Actually, Im surprised!  I would have thought the Saudi Embassy in DC would have given you a hard time about that!

CAF

Or did you go thought a consulate in PA?  But still, rules are rules!  VERY Interesting - Maybe your not who we thought you were!  :o

Actually I gathered the information (took me months) and then packaged it up and sent it to a visa agency in DC that my company works with (and btw, there are only two Saudi consulates in the US--one in DC and the other in NYC).

The only slight problem I had, which held things up for a week, is they were absolutely *buggin'* about my physical forms NOT being rubber stamped with my doctor's name, medical license number, and phone #.

I tried to explain that my doctor didn't have anything like this, and that it meant nothing, anyway, since anyone can have such a stamp made at Staples for $20.

Anyway, after a few 'back and forths,' they settled for his business card! (I didn't mention that anyone can have business cards made up at Staples for twenty bucks, too!).

and what about all the trials we have to go through JUST to live our daily lives here

Today it took me 3 hours including 3 international calls just to register for internet banking...

It's taken 10 days and 8 phone calls to receive an Express Courier document from home..

I was doomed to 12 months in a hotel while waiting on a compound list..

...and there was NO Vegemite...

and that is just this week!!!!

Thank G*d I have a sense of adventure :lol::lol::lol:

Banking can be a nightmare with the kind of locally managed Customer Service we have here. I enjoy the good fortune of having worked for the bank before where I have my account and hence just call up one of my ex colleagues to get the job done, pronto. But I know of many who have suffered immensely at the hands of these "good" samaritan customer service folks.

Your other option is not to have it notarized.  These fees are the same all over the world, at every US embassy and consulate.

Oh...lots of fees went up today, too.
