Hi there! My friend and I are moving to Hong Kong in 3 months time and are very nervous about the move. We are both Canadian. I've lived in shanghai for 5 months but this is a bit of a longer stay and last time our accommodations were already rented for us. I'm hoping some of my fears and worries can be reduced... some questions I have.

I have an iphone here... should I get it unlocked and bring it over or get a new phone there? Cost?
I've heard everyone say that they needed to buy a new mattress... where do you get this, how much does it cost and how do you get it to your apartment?
Who do we contact/call to get internet set up?
I'll be working on Hong Kong Island but have heard that it's cheaper to live in Kowloon?
How easy is it to transfer money into a Canadian Bank Account from Hong Kong?

I know there are a lot of questions... I'm hoping perhaps someone has been in my shoes before understands the insane workings of a brain moving to another country for 2 years!

it's silly to hk, a place without freedom promised by red pekin before 1997.
such a polluted , hopeless society hk   turns to. one month rent enough for poor thai or india living for one year.
younger HKers're eager to move out to australia canada as fruit pickers.

you'll be very painful to encounter those red rough mainlanders on bus , trains.
