Any returning immigrants who feel lost in their "home" country?

Actually I'm doing this so they'll open up the messaging system for me, but this is for all the immigrants who return to their unrecognizable home countries.

I left China at 3 and returned after college, it's such a strange feeling of simultaneous integration and alienation.

Anyone else have similar situations? Let's hear it!

Hi,

do you feel some kind of reverse culture shock ?

undercoverexpat

I don't think reverse culture shock applies here, I was never exposed to Chinese culture to begin with (I don't remember anything about life in China), yet at the same time I experienced it on a small scale at home with my parents...

Hence my username undercoverexpat, "Chinese" and "American" are are easily identified on sight, so when I walk around China I feel like a foreigner with privileged access.

No one notices me and I think I might catch them doing something distinctly "Chinese" that they wouldn't do if they thought a genuine foreigner was around.

A example of the opposite effect, I've been told that Chinese people have a habit saying "hello" and continuing on their way as they pass by foreigners on the street. I would have never known of this phenomenon except when a friend asked me why they do this. (As if I have any better clue than they do)
