If someone is self employed and does work online and has money wired in on a monthly basis, would the self employment visa be the best option? I'm under the impression that the self employment visa is for those who work for themselves and generate income in Mauritius, but hopefully I'm wrong on this.

If you don't want to come as in investor an application as self-employed is the right choise. It doesn't matter if the earned money comes from Mauritius or from abroad.  But you have to earn the money alone. You are not allowed to engage stuff for your business.

Thanks, looks like I have a choice of investor, self employed or retirement ( at least retirement in one years time :) )

Guess I need to decide which one would be best.  I'm sure my wife also would want to open up a business of some kind as she always likes having a business to keep her busy, so I need to look into what option would be best for the family.
