cost of living comes down drastically if you choose to stay economically, i spend 1000 ghc a month for everything incl rents, and i am very comfortable..

Thank you everyone, ,

How much is a monthly rent for a two bed room furnished flat and school fee
Does it has electricity problem and how do we manage
Appreciated your valuable comments

hkann

The cost of the apartment will depend on location. If you want to live in the main expat areas the you will pay US$3000+ but if you are willing to live further out then it will be considerably less - around US$1000. School fees again will depend on the school. As well as tuition fees you will have to pay a registration fee. If you look on accraexpat.com you will find a comprehensive list of schools as well as real estate

Thanks hkann

hello the prices you are talking about in dollar is that a month ? or what .

hkann

Yes, the prices are in dollars despite the fact that prices are supposed to be quoted in cedis but that is depreciating at such a rate you will still have to pay the dollar equivalent. And yes it is a month

Moving to Accra in 2015  as a retiree. Any advice on places to live ? Are there any communities where  members of the diaspora have settled ? can someone talk about the health care in Accra.

hkann

I am a retiree in Ghana. There are lots of areas where expats have settled. Where you choose to live depends on your budget. Accommodation in Accra is expensive so it depends on whether you want to rent or buy and the type of place you require. I suggest you look at the accraexpat website at their real estate section for ideas about the type of accommodation available and the cost.
With regard to health care you will probably find it cheaper than the US but it all depends on your needs and whether you require regular medication etc. I presume you will have a medical insurance which will include repatriation in case of emergencies as, although Accra is OK for standard, routine procedures you would probably need to return to the US for something more serious.

Hey der,

I am moving to Accra next month and company is agreeing to pay $1500 monthly?

Is that sufficient for 2 people ( Me n my Wife)

Kindly advise.

Regards
Saj

hkann

I presume that is just spending money and everything like accommodation, transport, medical is covered. If so you should be able to manage well
