Anyone know where I can buy a 120 to 220 volt adapter here in Saigon?

THERE ARE TWO types of adapter - the cheap resistive type and the more expensive transformer type.

The RESTIVE are good for kettles, toasters, hair dryers, and the like - heavier loads.

TRANSFORMER types change the voltage using a ... transformer ... which electrically a better way. BUT you pay big bucks (Dong) to handle BIG loads.

I usually 'roll my own' for about VND100,000 for a 5 Amp version. Takes about half an hour of labour. All the parts are for sale in Ta Uyen, on the river side of Nguyen Chi Thanh (between Nguyen Chi Thanh and Hung Vuong). Very simple.
