Hi All,

My husband and I are relocating to Mauritius in November.  We have found a lovely house in Flic en Flac.  I've noticed negative posts regarding Flic en Flac.  This has made me feel nervous of our decision.  Why is Flic en flac not a good area to live in?  Thanks for the imput. Regards Anwyn

Hi Margoczi ,

I am from Mauritius. Flic en Flac is touristic coastal area...one of the most beautiful. There is no specific known problem there as far as I know. In case you are mentioning anything specific here...please quote it, I'll try to give an answer.

Armand

Hi,

It depends on perspectives.
A too crowded beach on week-ends *ahem* might be a problem for some

Hi

If crowd is a problem, then flic en flac is definitely not the place to be... You should try tamarin, when there are many expat.... tamarin expensive as far as rent is concerned.

Flic en Flac is a good region with a good beach but the problem is it is a sort of cul-de-sac -no through road. The road ends somewhere. No great amenities except a supermarket-SPAR,a Discotheque and a clinic.

This is not true!  Flic en Flac is quite big. It depends how  you live and what you expect. I leave over 3 yrs at Flic en Flac without any trouble an know others living for decades. It is  quite safe overhere thank to our police station and the cameras placed on the beach and the streets.

What kind of reports? I guess it depends what your needs are and what you are looking for from your move.

Basic amenities are around here and you are a 30 min or drive from Port Louis if you have any business related things you need to do. It' a tourist place though so you get that tourist feel but it can be quite basic compared to anything in Europe.

As with anywhere I think you have to pick a place and see for yourself and then eventually while here you'll find a place that suits you both. You may stay or being in Flic en Flac may just encourage you to explore other areas and find an area that suits you bestI hear some negative stuff about the area mainly around commercialism and lack of authenticity - which is true - but its winter and I've been wearing shorts and t-shirt everyday and gone for a swim most days! For me thats a good start.

Good luck.
