Post new topic

Would it be possible to create a new forum category so that people who have disabilities etc can debate, provide information et al about Malta and the facilites on offer etc

This would be really useful if someone could provide this

Whilst the airport provides excellent services for disabled (having used them) once out of there forget it. There are some, a few, individual establishments that make an effort to cater for those with different needs but generally, a sea change of attitude will be required to get anyone here to understand and cater for the needs of those with different abilities.
I very much doubt if that will ever happen. A previous potential bidder to provide bus services severely criticised the islands 'powers that be' for failing to provide adequate infrastructure for access to buses for everyone, let alone for those with different abilities. 'P"*ssing in the wind' is an expression that comes to mind if anyone thinks they can effect any change.

@Redmik
Adopting a defeatist attitude will re-affirm the apathy of many abled people.  Sadly, I must say that it reflects my own UK thinking from thirty years ago when the very mention of disability access caused horror amongst the many who could soon provide simple incremental solutions.  It's not all about wheelchairs although that would start to mature as other ambitions are accomplished.  Just a well placed 'grab rail' would improve the situation for many of us.  Should we do nothing?  That list may be endless but we could make a start.

If that wind is blowing against us then we just have to p*ss harder. :top:  RR

I am never defeatist, just realistic, especially out here.

I know exactly what you mean.  Sometimes it's a bit of an adventure waiting for the next unbelievable event,  As Victor Meldrew would say, "I don't believe it", :sosad:
