How to cut ties

How do you cut the ties and just move. I so badly want to move to Europe. I almost have my dual citizenship with Greece and have traveled significantly through Europe, but I am scared to leave my family, friends and partner. But I know this is what I need to do. If I don't do it now, I feel as if I will never do it. Any suggestions on how to do this on your own? Find a job and learn the language?

Any advice would greatly be appreciated!

It is not unusual to leave family like parents, brothers, sisters and relatives "back home", you will loose a number of friends, except those real good ones. But leaving your partner is a very high price!
My recommendation: make sort of a balance sheet: 2 columns, 1 for PRO one for AGAINST leaving. Write all and any thoughts in the corresponding column. Do this during one or two weeks, than count! You will get closer to what you really want.
Good luck!

If settling down in Europe is what you think is right for you to do.. Then do it!
You can do it anyway without really cutting ties. We have Facebook, Myspace and tons of social networks not to mention the handful of chat/video facilities like Yahoo Messenger and Skype. All these to make you keep the ties strong while being physically far from your family and friends.

So be where you want to be but never cut the ties -- again you don't have to. Our national hero in the Philippines once said "He who doesn't know how to look back to where he came from..will never reach his desired destination." I believe there is some truth to it. God bless.

No need to cut ties ; as you can live in Europe and still maintain those ties that you want to maintain .Maybe you are looking for a change ,so go ahead and make the change ,if you want it badly .You may want to cut some ties for a while ,perhaps .
Two best pieces of advice that I can give you :Life can be short and unpredictable -go for the things that you want rather than live with regrets.
See the move as a challenge that will make you stronger and wiser ,perhaps -wise enough to re-build the ties that matter most to you.

Not that I'm any expert at giving advice, but don't leave it too late to do something you truly want to do. In my experience, if you don't do it, and you don't do it because of other people in your life, you may wake up one day and really regret it. If the friends and family, or significant partner really care for and love you they will give you the time to fulfill your dream, and only you will know once you've accomplished your goal if you want to return. Good relationships survive distance and difficulties.

The good thing is that you know what you want. Lots of people are unhappy in their lives and have no idea what to do to change the situation. If living in Europe is the thing you want so badly, just go for it. There is no certainty that you would be happier somewhere else, but if you don't try it out, you would never know :-)
