Yes, there is a shortage of qualified nurses in Germany. If one already works as a nurse and the training from your country is accepted as an equivalent then you would likely get a work visa even if your German is not so good. But an Ausbildung is a work/training program. The plus is that one earns money during the training. The problem is that one cannot learn something so important if you don’t understand the language! Medical decisions can be life threatening. Giving the wrong medication or treatment as ordered by the doctor could kill someone. How can one expect to learn and pass exams not knowing German? This profession is in demand in Germany but you need to either get your credentials elsewhere and learn German well enough to work – or first learn German very well to learn in Germany. Another consideration is if one is really able to do nursing. It is a hard and stressful job – not for everyone.
Here is a link to a site that gives information about nurse training in Germany.

I don't know what official requirements might be but I would think one should be pretty fluent to be able to learn such a profession properly. Just basic getting along in a language will not be adequate.
Hello everyone,
I have a question that would be appreciated if someone help me.
I would like to know if I could attend a Nursing Ausbildung without any background in nursing?!!
In fact I have Master Degree in Industrial Management. I also need to know if attending in nursing Ausbildung has any age limitation???
Thanks in advance

An Ausbildung is a vocational training. One can hardly be expected to have experience in nursing already if they have not done the training yet! But one will have to learn about medicine, health, physiology etc. so a strong background in sciences like biology and chemistry for example would be recommended. It would sound doubtful someone in industrial management would have the orientation for such things. I don’t know of any official age limits but even so one can imagine it would come into consideration when one applies. One might not be given the benefit of the doubt that they can learn a new career at an advanced age. Nursing is a hard job with high burnout rates so not the kind of thing one usually starts with if too old. Maturity is good but one needs to have the energy and temperament. The other thing is language. One must learn good German; it is important to communicate with patients and doctors. Misunderstanding a doctor’s orders or what medicines a patient should get could kill someone.
Yes there is a shortage of nurses in Germany at the moment so many see it as good opportunity. But I would not encourage one to even try if they are committed to a job which is difficult and dirty or if they don’t honestly think they have the aptitude and ability to really learn German and the subjects required. I don’t want to make any negatives suggestions towards any person but I have seen inquiries from people who only seem to care about getting to Germany and making money and don’t sound like they understand the seriousness and difficulty of such a job.
One wonders why an Industrial Manager (who could have an office-based job with double the salary) would want to enter as strenuous a profession as nursing.
During nursing school, you also get only a small stipend that might not cover your full living expenses.
In addition, good German is usually required to enter nursing school - although with the current shortage they tend to make exceptions for those with less language abilities (but you need to be able to follow lectures with technical terms entirely in German).

I would like to do Ausbildung in Nursing.I have applied for student visa. But my visa got rejected because of no valid training contract.I have asked them to provide this contract, sothat i could give an appeal. But they told that, they could only give me that if i am in Deutschland. Now i am planning to go to germnay in visiting visa.is it possible to get granted?please help me to get aware of this
Without a valid traineeship paperwork (contract or admission confirmation), you cannot get a visa. So much should be obvious.
That the training institution does not want to admit foreigners is unusual, but there is probably nothing you can do about it. Visiting will probably not change their mind!
Look for another training organisation (hospital or nursing school) and apply there!
Actually they have told me to come to germany in visiting visa in oder to get the contract

I really want to know everything about ausbildung for nurse and how to start knowing that I'm Moroccan that has a libanaise resident I'm married and my husband want to go to
We heard that the study is for free but the time we started seeking schools and stuff we were surprised coz they ask for fees please do help me
One should be aware that a study visa in Germany specifically referees to attending university and not other vocational training (Ausbildung). For going to other schools or training programs not on a university level requires a different visa that has different conditions – like no bringing a spouse or kids.
And one should lay to rest the wide spread myth that all education in Germany is free. Public University is free for Germans, long-term German residents and other EU citizens. Non-EU citizens may be able to attend university tuition-free (but still some other fees) for a Bachelor’s degree in some regions of Germany but in Baden-Württemberg for example they now pay 1500 Euros/semester. For Master’s programs they pay tuition everywhere, especially if they take English taught programs, most of which are at expensive private universities.
Some vocational training like nursing might offer a dual school/work program that gives practical experience and they earn money as well. Such a program takes longer than a normal learning one but is of course economically advantageous. Most such nursing programs will require either a good level of German – or there are some that take even longer and teach German at the beginning , specifically focused on what will be needed for such a job. But one will need the aptitude and commitment to learning the language well to have any chance of getting through such a program. Anyone thinking they can learn nursing in Germany and not speak the language by the time they should get certified to work is sadly mistaken.
There are also scholarships at least for university that non-EU citizens can also apply for. What they pay, conditions etc. are, or if there are also such things for nursing training, is beyond my scope of knowledge.
Hi 👋 I would like to do ausbuilding in germany.so I'm thinking for B2 language class. My faculty background is arts .and I do have diploma nursing license in my home country which is 18 months long duration. Currently I'm working here in dubai with regesterd license as a assistant nurse.. i heard somewhere ,i might be wrong after 3 year of ausbuilding I will get 2 more year, so now my questions are after this am I able to apply for pr? During this ausbuilding course am I eligible to bring my spouse and child with me? Or can I go for directly bachler of nursing with my language skill with my degrees ?
@Urmila Limbu Check the entry requirements of the nursing school you want to attend - especially whether B2 language skills are sufficient.
The apprenticeship stipend is not enough to feed additional people - only yourself. So you cannot bring your partner and child as dependents, sorry!
Which visa you can get (and whether you can bring your family) afterwards depends on the job you find then.
Entering a Bachelor course here requires a secondary school certificate recognised as equivalent to a German "Abitur". Do you have that?
@Urmila Limbu like Beppi mentioned, one cannot bring a partner or child on an Ausbildung visa. An Ausbildung is a vocational training; like learning nursing. But you seem to have already learned it to a certain level. It would be a good idea to find out if your nursing training is recognized at all in Germany. If not, it would still be a good basis for a German nursing training. One usually needs to first have a B2 level of German for acceptance although I have heard of a program that takes longer but would take one with say a A2 level of German and including focused language training to get one up to the B2 level. But just learning German is not done in an Ausbildung since it is not a vocation, rather at a language school.
If one successfully completes a nursing training in German then, one has very good job prospects. But the time spent in either a language school or Ausbildung does not count towards permanent residence. You would likely have to work 3 years as a nurse after completing training and licensing to get pr.
It is correct that there are Ausbildung programs for nursing or also bachelors. But as Beppi mentioned one needs to equivalence of the German Abitur for acceptance to university. Big question is if your education level will be seen as enough. The other thing is that to study at university one usually needs an even higher level of German - C1 rather than B2.
An advantage of studying at university is that a foreign student can theoretically also bring a spouse and child - but they also need to have enough money in a blocked bank account to cover the living expenses for all 3. This amounts to over 22,000 Euros for the 2 adults and I'm not sure how much for the child but likely a total of over 30,000 euros/year. And this assumes that the bachelor is tuition free which would mean in a public rather than private university - and not in Baden-Württemberg or else one pays 1500 Euros tuition/semester.
