Santa Margarita vs. La Alcaidesa

Post new topic

panama88

Hola! I am considering to move to Spain. No need for paperwork, just to choose a place near Gibraltar.

I short-listed Santa Margarita and La Alcaidesa.

Based on the info I have, Santa Margarita:
PLUS: near Gibraltar, there is a bus going there. Cheaper real estate.
MINUS: many empty apartments, people may have to pay additional fees to cover the communal expenses for the empty units. Not as nice as La Alcaides

La Alcaidesa:
PLUS: almost a stand-alone community. Closer to the beach
MINUS: more expensive, further from Gibraltar

Thoughts? Corrections? Thanks!

The bus service was stopped and I'm not sure if it is available now

Thank you! Was that for the border issues or was not a popular service? Thanks

BTW, could this one by the bus: http://www.autocaresctm.com/portal/lalinea/lalinea.htm ?

Thanks

Around an year ago the bus services are not reliable.
You don't know which day will have a bus and at what time interval they are.
The current bus company is on temporally contract from one year and its unclear when will have a permanent bus service.... no money for buses  :)

For both places you must have a car.

La Alcaidesa - no shops at all
Santa Margarita  - have one shop at the beginning.
