Dear Forum,
when renting a serviced appartment you are charged a fee for electricity and water now there is a price per unit so do all the rooms have there own meters so you can check your usesage or do you have to put your trust in who ever you are dealing with at the time.

                               Kind Regards :)

Every place I have stayed each apartment had its own electric meter.  For the water some had individual meters and others I was charged a flat fee each month.

You should not have a problem asking to see meter.

Some dont. Some older ones do not have seperate meter so theres an average amonst the apartments. JW

my electric meter is often checked (by me ..hehe) coz it's at the stair case down to the elevator and the water meter is in the balcony of my room, just need to write down my last usage for the people on every 28th. :)

Thanx straydog for your reply :)

Is it recommended that i ask to see meters while checking in and make a note of these numbers as if i dont know these numbers i have really left myself open too being cheated and im sure this does happen ?
Also thanx for other replies.

P.S   : water is 23 baht/unit and electricity 6 baht/unit is this average or excessive ?

                             Kind Regards

By all means ask to look at meters and record readings.  I seem to remember at my place they actually showed me meters and then had me sign paper with those numbers recorded.

I'm paying the same rates you mention for water and electricity.  My electric was 5 baht until the most recent lease I signed.

Thanx again stray,im hoping they will also show me a meter and ask me to verify the numbers i like to get things straight from the word go.

                     Cheers :)
