Becoming a permanent resident in Chile

Post new topic

panama88

Hello!

I read about becoming a permanent resident. Is this the correct "procedure"?
- proof 1k income per month per person, or 50k in total assets
- get a 1 year temporary residency
- before 1 year, upgrade to permanent resident. Just paperwork, no real problem

Is this correct? If so, how to become a citizen?

And, in your opinion, is it worth the hassle?

Thanks

Hi, nice to find a post that is pretty much exactly what I wanted to do. Sorry there were no other replies in this forum.

Did you receive any more information? Do you have a lawyer located yet?

I think the correct terminology is that you would be a permanent resident. Which means you could stay there indefinitely.

But from what I understand, citizenship itself takes about 4-5 years. Citizenship just allows you to vote and maybe join the military. I am not sure what other benefits citizenship itself gives you. I don't think it is necessary to live there permanently.
