You are right it is low but probably based on local pay scale. If you flat share you can survive. Probably have rm1k over when tax resident. Only accept if you think it would be good for your career and is not exploitation as hours will be very long

Thanks! Any idea about a fair reasonable pay for an architect to live in KL..? Because im trying to negotiate on the pay...

Thanks!

Hi non-Malaysians are not allowed to be architects in Malaysia. Only Malaysian citizens per http://www.lam.gov.my/registration/prof … architects

Hence it really depends what you do or hired to do.

I would say 10k is the min to live in KL nowadays. That is rock bottom rate for Asian expats IMHO to make it worthwhile. With 7 years experience 10k would be low but again it depends on the job. You can't work as an architect in Malaysia so they prob gave the job another title

You are an expat, so for them to hire you legally and give you a work pass, they need to pay you the minimum which is RM5,000 for a 2 year contract. Bear in mind it is 26% tax for I think the first 3 months then the tax is lower but I can't remember if it goes down to 13% or 17%.  Hope this helps a bit. Look up expats em
