Are they really that strict about importing wooden items in?

Post new topic

Zeltingers

We're in the process of moving to Australia and are a bit stunned by the list of items one cannot bring into Australia.  As nature buffs, we get it but just out of curiosity, ARE THEY REALLY THAT STRICT?  We've got a small bbq as well as old wooden patio furniture (unfinished wood) that we can't decide if they'll quarantine or not.  We've scrubbed everything but our items are just old!  Any experiences are advice you can share will be appreciated!

Hi Zeltingers,

Have you checked out the following website?  If it doesn't answer your question, there is an email address or phone number for you to email or call to get an answer your question. This is a website directly from the Australian Government and the source where you would likely need to get confirmation compared to any of us on this forum.

Hi JB09,

thanks for your prompt reply.
I actually had checked out the IQAS homepage, but was just curious whether they really enforce their rules very strict or not?

Thank you,
Julian
