wants to change company in oman

Dear expat members,

One of my brother have been worked in oman. now he wants to change his career to next level so he decided to apply for jobs in another companies. now his question is

1)can he get employment visa with proper exit from current company If he selected for new company ?

2)In oman, Some one said to him, we cant get employment visa for 2 years after cancel or exit from oman,,Is it true?

3)now he is working as a supervisor category but visa is technician/labour visa..can he get profession visa for next company in oman ?
I hope you guys giving me good clarification

Hi Noorul,

(1) If the company he is employed with is willing to give him a NoC (No Objection Certificate) then he can exit and re enter Oman on another company's employment visa. But no company in its right mind would give any of its employees a NoC, unless the company is winding up for good. The reason for this has been discussed in the recent past and in detail in the forum. So you have to locate that post and get all the information that you would need to know about it.

(2) Yes, what he has heard is true. If you resign from the current job and exits Oman, then he cannot come back for a minimum period of 2 years from the date of the departure. Exception to this rule is mentioned above.

(3) Yes, if the new company offers him a better job then he can move up from a technician / labour visa to something better.
