Hi,

I just moved to Bahrain recently and I'm looking to buy a Sunfish or Laser Sailboat. Any idea where to buy sailboats in Bahrain?

Welcome to the island, first of all.  I know there are plenty of brokers etc, but I always preferred the classifieds for a deal.  Maybe you can do some shopping here:

Good luck

After a quick look I am not sure, but I know the Bahrain Yacht Club would know.  There is a Contact Us link at the top.

Also, the Bahrain Boat Show International is coming to Amwaj in April if you can wait that long.

Sorry couldn't be of more help - best of luck finding what you're looking for!

Talk to the marina club. Also go to Al Bander as there are signs there for boats for sale, it's near the yacht club so you can pop in there too. Also Amwaj like the other guys have already said.

Hello MAA07,
I am in a similar situation... I am considering buying a small lifing keel boat. I used to race lasers few years back in Europe.
Bahrain doesn't seem to be too keen on sailing (very hot/humid weather most of the time, wind that comes and goes, shallow waters, huge tides...) although being an island most people would expect differently.

I have checked Amwaj Marina, Bahrain Yacht Club (next to Al Bander in sitra) and Bahrain Sailing Club in Jazair Beach, past the BIC.

Cpt. Nabeel at Amwaj Marina is a really nice guy and I think he's planning to bring some medium size sailing cats to Bahrain (really here the condition are perfect for cats) for chartering, but at the moment I saw no sailboats whatsoever. Both BYC and BSC offer sailing courses and its very easy an economical to rent the boat from the club. If you plan on sailing very frequently it might make sense to have your own boat I guess. Membership at BYC is if I remember correctly BD 350/- a year, while it's 250/-a year up to a couple plus child at BSC.

Renting a Laser at BSC is 10 BD per Hr, a J24 keel boat is 100 BD per day. No keel boats available at BYC as far as I could tell.
