IS IT true Christmas celebrations are banned by directorate of health  asir region ...nurses and doctors cant  celebrate Christmas in hostal hall ...what islam says about it ?

James

Saudi Arabia recognizes ONLY the Islamic faith and its practice, so it should come as a surprise that any public celebration of Christmas (a Christian holiday) would be banned?

Actually they've even at times taken a hard-line stand about such celebrations in private places too.

Perhaps the following article will enlighten you a little......

From what I've read it seems being loud, boisterous, or overly obvious in celebrating other faiths is frowned upon here, ESPECIALLY when you involve Muslims in your non-Muslim / haram activities. All of the muttawa and police I've come into contact with have been pleasant enough people, plus I've been perfectly respectful and wasn't wearing my Santa suit  :top:
