Advise on move to Maputo

Post new topic

pdr

Hi

Potential job in maputo for 2015.

Looking for advise on secure areas to live in either Maputo or Matola.  How is the drive from Matola to Maputo - how long it takes at peek times?

What is the cost of living compared to Johannesburg - Rent, water/electricity, groceries, petrol, medical aid, car and household insurance, Internet at home, satellite TV,  etc.

Any advise will be welcomed.

Thank you
Cristina

Dont move to Maputo!!!  Especially if you're used to the South African way of living.  Traffic is a nightmare...at any time of the day.  Cost of living is ridiculously high. They especially harass the foreigners.  Maputo and Matola is disgusting and filthy and sad. The beach in Maputo is filthy...and the pristine beaches the advertise...is KILOMETRES away!!! Roads are full of potholes. Need a 4x4 to access those nice resorts and beaches. We lasted 10months in that God forsaken country!!!

Maputo is generally an expensive city. nice places to live incluse costa de sol, sommerchield, or area adjacent to these places. You can check out rentals on olx.co.mz.

hi Cristina
i'm a regular visitor in Maputo, the place is nice, people are  welcoming i was never harrased by anyone other than police they always looking for a mistake when they see foreign car and they dont settle for low bribe, and its better to drive  a 4x4 vehicle bcoz of the roads are full of potholes, other than that enjoy the beach, fish and grilled chicken they sure know how to cook
