Hi all
I have been offered a position in bahrain.pay around 2300 bhd including accommodation and car allowance. Insurance nd 1 family ticket back home a year. I am with my wife and 2 year old son.
Its the Same company I am currently working  with in singapore 9 yrs. Salary wise its arnd 15% more then what I currently have.

Now to the questions
1 . Is it good salary for bahrain..How much can I expect to save a month. We live very modest family life no drinking or smoking .
2. Need to know how difficult is it to get a playschool for my son ..nd cost nd what about actual schools when he is of age are there good options.
3. Can I use singapore driving license there? I have indian license as well
How much for a small family car new nd 2nd hand
4. I ll be working at the airport..so what areas I can get a very nice furnished 1 or 2 bhk apartment. Nd cost
5.in case I dont buy a car initially can I easily get cabs to nd fro for my office.  Please advice me if any other options...

Thaks for reading thru my list of questions... will ask more as I think of it..
I have to move by march provided I say yes to the offer by end of jan.
Btw Life is not bad here in SG but its getting a bit difficult for foreigners regarding cost schooling nd medical etc...

Thanks

Check bahrain property world which will give you an idea of rent. If you're working at the airport, Arad, Hidd, Muharraq would be close

Cabs are expensive. You're better off renting a car, about 200BD for small car for a month. Not sure about the license but if you get an international driving permit you should be able to use it to drive. Usually they are valid for a year, as long as your existing driving license stays valid.
There is a list of countries where you can just go and get a Bahraini driving license without a test.

How old is your son? Not many places take children under 18-20months and it can be expensive. School wise international schools can be pricey also most of them are on the other side of the island, including the Bahrain Indian School so you may be better off basing yourself on that side of the island (Sar, Budaiya, Hamala, Barbar)

A lot of these questions have been answered if you search past topics.

As for moving well each country has its pros and cons. Singapore is probably more expensive than here but then there's no public transport here but then fuel costs less here..... I'm sure you can save her especially if you have managed to there and will be earning more here tax free

Thanks indiedarling and fchaudri for your responses..

I have gone thru  couple of other websites and topics here and seems I can figure out my expense should not be more than 1000 bhd ( 450 housing, 200 transport, 250 expenses, 100 any miscellaneous).. hope its a good estimate..  its positive being I can get a bigger 2 bedroom furnished apt and my own car!!..
In SG these 2 things alone would be 70% of my salary... hence I live in a 1bhk apt and travel in public transport. . Which is remarkably efficent and cheap. . Being fair to SG every thing is very convenient and easily accessible here..mostly in walking distance..

If someone can advise if things like supermaket malls and clinics are convinently available in bahrian.. specially near residential areas..as my wife wont be driving..

Further My son is 21 months and going to play school currently.. and education is quite expensive here as well for foreigners. .

If anyone can give me an idea on fees etc it would be very helpful. And how easy or difficult is it to get admission. .

Regards
