Hi my working permit  going to end ds may 9 how to get  my own work permit

Gravitas

Yoyong - you would have to become a business owner.

Paresh - there is no conversion possible. It is a separate immigration status and you would have to satisfy all the requirements. These may include returning to your country of origin or current country to wait for clearance, once you have found yourself a job.  So dont 100% expect to be able to stay on in Malaysia. The likelihood is quite small. You may perhaps be able to get hired as a Foreign Worker in the sectors that are permitted for Indian Nationals. But at the end of the day you have to find yourself an employer who will sponsor your permit.

Foreign workers do have to be hired from outside Malaysia. Holders of Employment Passes from India, also need to get a visa by reference before they depart for Malaysia. The EP is then completed once in Malaysia. The Malaysian embassies in India assist in the process.

I would say getting a job is best done by networking.  However, at the moment there is a down turn in the economy plus some worries about the GST coming into force. This will result in less job opportunities. It is quite often that FWs are laid off with almost no notice, so it can be a rather insecure life and the salaries are peanuts.

All types of employment passes (except Talentcorp) are linked to a specific job. There are no "floating" permits, although if a person has a longer permit and the particular job finishes, sometimes those people stay on, although strictly speaking it is illegal to do so. There is no such thing as a "personal" permit unless you are a business owner and that follows the business rules regarding capital, etc.

Hi. I just wanna ask.. how long does it take for the visa approval?

Gravitas

Depends what you mean by "how long". Most processes are two steps. One is done in the home country and the second is done in Malaysia.  All employers have to prove they have tried to engage Malaysian staff to do the jobs they are offering to foreigners.  Everything takes time, but you are probably looking at about 2 months from beginning to end.
