Tell Me Where to Visit in March

Post new topic

Full Monty

Hi all. I have a week off, w/c March 20th, and am looking at places to visit - outside of the KSA.

I'll probably be traveling alone, which kind of rules out central Africa (unless I can join a group), I want somewhere with nice weather so northern Europe could be too chilly then, some other places require a tedious visa process (UK passport) and I don't have the patience. As I only have a week I don't really want to be traveling for 24 hours each way, so N & S Americas aren't really an option. The Philippines look gorgeous but you can't really make a dent in 5,000 islands in a week. I've traveled around Thailand, Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia twice - I highly recommend them but a third time seems a bit of overkill, and both times were when I had a month.

I'm leaning towards north Africa, furthermost southern Europe or south Asia.

Also I hate beach holidays.

So, could anyone with experience make a suggestion? A week's break, somewhere with public transport (or local private buses) sufficient to see a couple of cities/areas, and somewhere I'm not going to be permanently freezing or soaked?

Thanks, in advance!  :D

Try:
1. Palawan in the Philippines (or Tagay Tay in Manila)
2. Penang or Langkawi in Malaysia (or KL)
3. Tunisia
4. Egypt (Cairo and Siwa)
5. Morocco
6. Cicely
7. Cyprus
8. Greece (Athenes)

Thanks! abozaid, damn good choices there!

I'd love to visit the Philippines and a place or two where are easy to travel around could be a nice starter, I also know nothing about KL or the surrounding areas so some tips for a noob are gratefully received. Tunisia, as I know, is nice for older couples but is it good for a single, footloose and fancy-free guy who wants to see some culture? I could be very wrong but is there a good travel 'route' around the country?. I've been to Egypt three times and had a great experience every time. I feel like I should see a lot of places before settling on only one. I'd like to see some more of Morocco, Sicily I would love to see again, it's on my bucket list, same as Greece. Also both should be warm in March, as would Cyprus be.

Very good ideas! Thanks
