Kids School

Post new topic

Hi all,

After going through all the posts and the timings, I have applied for school using central registration for next year and I am hopeful for a place in a school near to my place.

My query is are there any day care/activity center to which my kid can go until school starts next year.

Clearly i visited all the schools in my commune and they have no places until next school year starts.

What commune do you live in? What central system are you talking about? How old is the child?
There are 1000s of creches in Belgium for under 3s and 99% of them registered with K&G or ONE depending on where you live, both have websites where you can search for the nearest ones to where you live.

Apologies for not responding before,

But here is the situation.

1. We moved to Brussels end of last year (December)
2. We got our ID's now from the commune
3. Our commune had a inscription process for schools starting September this year (Dilbeek)
4. We applied and got a place for 1st Standard in a school

But, when we went to the local school, they said they cannot give a place as the kid should have spent 220 half days in a dutch school in the previous year so that they can go to class 1 subsequent year.

However since we came in only now they put our case to a committee who will decide on what needs to be done.

Anyone else who has faced a similar problem..? Any advice.?

Regards,
Satish.

Do you speak Dutch at home?
If not, Dutch might not be a good choice in Brussels.
There are no such rules for entering French schools for primary.

Dear all,

Finally we got admission in a Dutch Local school in our commune, My kid will go to school from 20th April.

Thanks for all the help
