Eid al Fitr

Post new topic

Any news when Eid al-Fitr will be celebraetd? Ramdan ends on Thursday 9 September, so this day and next two should be off. But I've heard that days off could be moved to Saturday so Sunday and Monday will be off then.
It's even more complicated than establishing the beginning of Ramdan...

The last day of Ramadan could be either the 8th (hopefully) or the 9th, depending on moon sighting and various other political issues.

Actual Eid holidays again would be based on many factors, we will find out on the 7th/8th most probably.

Thank you Napalm, we can all use some civility here on the blog.

I'm not sure if I know where this discussion is going...

Anyway, the thing is that I don't think moon has anything to do with it now. It has of course a lot to do with the beginning of Ramadan. Most of Islamic countries decided it would start on 11/08, Libya of course wanted to be first, so here it started one day earlier. Fine by me.

The end of Ramadan should be then on 8th in Libya. But there has been rumours that Eid could start later than on 9th. Actually someone told be that in the past Eid was moved just before it started. The moon can be predicted, other "political issues" not really. So my question was addressed to anyone first to know the final decision (or latest decision changing the final decision).

The beginning and the end is decided  by the sighting of the moon.  God had commended us to fast and it wasn't the politicians' creations.   all politician go to hell and leave us practice freely in peace.  I use the conventional method( calender) to start and end Ramadan. or if i couldn't locally know if the moon was sighted or not i just simply refer to the confirmation from Saudi Arabia. in KSA they still use the conventional method to start and end and there is no such a thing called "predictions"

The position and phase of the moon at any place on Earth can be predicted hundreds of thousand of years into the future. Fact.

Why would i do that? as long as you express your opinion politely, there is nothing wrong that.  I Intend to be standing up person for my Identity and my religion as long as you dont insult any of them things are just fine.  regarding Ramadan from start to end, is determined only by the sighting of the crescent (or the birth of the new moon)  and its only confirmed through the vision of the naked eye. and its best spotted in remote areas where there is no artificial lighting pollutions. No prediction of the moon was mentioned or quoted in our holly book of Quran.
