No promise of useful expat info here, I’m afraid.  Anyway, Tenerife is the most un-expat  place I’ve ever lived… I mean we’ve even got a Marks and Spencer and an Iceland for heavens sake.  It’s not expatting like it used to be.  I remember (eyes glaze over) when I was a mere expat whippersnapper in Bangladesh… we used to have to fly to Bangkok to buy toothpaste and Calcutta to get gin...

Too bloody easy nowadays.

zzzzzzzzzz

Wezza gin?

zzzzzzzzz

Even if there's a M&S close to your place, you're an expatriate :) Welcome lbcanaries!

Don't forget to add your blog address in your profile and to locate yourself on the user map ;)

How long have you been living in the Canary Island?

When were you in Bangladesh?

Take care,

Julien

Grew up as an expat in SE Asia.  Am now fully grown, and have been for a very long time.  Been on Canaries (Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura and Lanzarote) for 4 years, amd now on Canarian year five in Tenerife.

Are you working in Tenerife? It must be complicated to get a job there, isn't it?

lbcanaries

Job?  Well yes, I have one of those... difficult to find?  Er... I guess maybe, I don't know.  I have never really applied for a job before, I tend to research companies until I find one that needs my particular range of skills (and that I like the look of) and then persuade them to employ me.  It's always worked so far.

What about you?

Julien

Well as you can imagine I am an IT guy

I am moving to London in a couple of weeks for an IT manager position. I used to be self-employed in Spain, working for british companies, but I'll be an employee for at least the 12 next months. Then I might move to another country :)
