Can you tell me when taking out broadband and phone in Malta is there a line rental to pay and if so how much?

I currently pay (for broadband, unlimited,  plus line rental) the equivalent of 44 euro per month at the current exchange rate or £31.97

I tried searching before posting but can't find the answer

Go offers phone line and internet for 20pcm 15mbs  all in

usually they do phone and internet package combined so you pay for both in one bill

Thanks Robpw2 that seems cheap so one saving when we move, thought the internet was fast in the apartment we rented when on holiday on Gozo that explains it as i could stream tv no problem, I struggle here with 1.2mbs (were not yet fast broadband in our area)

its the limitless duo pack  https://www.go.com.mt/personal/packs/ch … k/duo-pack
you can get just internet starting from 17 euros on go

though may be worth speaking to Redmik about who he uses as i think he said Melita was better where he lives

Thanks for that, i presume when they talk about fibre its not what we call here fibre, we have fibre to cabinet so you have to have a phone line, so in effect you are getting ADSL to home.

Its rare (apart from big cities) you get fibre (or cable as some call it) directly to homes.

If melita provide true fibre to homes then there is no need to have a telephone plugged into the wall as you can use an ip phone and in my case i would opt for a uk phone number with vonage or similar.

Is that the case? as i see no mention of phone line rental

Melita operate cable - still limited though to areas... and as you say its lkely to be fibre to cabinet and then a cable to home...

but when we had Melita we used a broadband phone plugged into the router and they work fine..... and are quite cheap to run  - most local calls were free to melita numbers and calls to uk were only about 2-3c per min.. so very cheap....
