Hi Anita
Since this blog targets expats (most of us here are expats-- ie. from places other than KSA), what you will often read here is our cross-cultural reactions to living in your country as well as member requests for information.
We always welcome positive minded, helpful Nationals so nice to meet you!

One way of pursuing this exercise could be to initiate a thread where members may ask questions about other peoples cultures and those who are competent may respond to them accordingly.
Welcome to the forum, anivo.
And you'll definitely find it interesting here, also, me, and our friends here are expecting to share our experience about the Kingdom.
Best wishes, anivo.
Ramon,

This much introduction is not enough. Which country you belong and are you doing some kind of job here.
However welcome....
Welcome Anita!

Hi sbinu2000, welcome on Expat.com
I drop you a line to inform you that we do have a Dubai forum where (seeing your long expatriation there) you might want to come extend information to expats having questions.
Maybe you could start by dropping us a few lines of presentation in Presentation of members in Dubai?
Come over and share your experience of Dubai with the others there!
Cheers
welcome you from Jubail.
Welcome to KSA and forum. Enjoy your time in Jeddah.
Anil
Actually she's Saudi (yes?) .. so she's the one welcoming us!
I've never seen so many men, whom I have never seen post before, come out of the woodwork when a young female posts.
Welcome Anita, we hope that you find the cross-cultural interests you seek.
Please tell us a bit about you...you can find out about most of us by just reading various threads on the forum.

Interestingly one female writes a post and gets a few dozen replies . A guy writes a post and gets nothing ...
Maybe women are banned from writing on forums ... who knows - the mystery is out there ...
Keep smiling my friend

Well, I have over 2,000 contributions so clearly women are NOT banned!
We welcome men here, too, of course. In fact, I must admit I'm partial to welcoming the men, just like the guys here are partial to welcoming women. I think this is natural?
Her welcomes spanned two months. You just made your intro yesterday .. so there's a lot of time left
But let me be the first: welcome to the forum!
Welcome Anita I wish you a pleasant stay in Saudi Arabia. You will enjoy the cross-cultural differences as long as you watch the new culture admirably, and not in a judging way. I learned this philosophy when I travelled to different cultures in Europe, and Australia. There, I saw many things; most of them are against my beliefs. However, lots of amazing things came across my way that made me enjoy and compare my own culture to the new one.
Best of luck
Hi Mansour,
Anita was a '2 post wonder' .. we're now welcoming 5themperor, who was a bit put out at his lack of welcome lol
Your advice is excellent and thank you for sharing!

I bet they for sure want to talk about "household iteams, car" ...
God save us everyone!
Seriously?
A lot of weird people doing "stuff" to get themselves noticed...
Saudi Arabia is just another country in this regard..
and the posts to follow the first... Hilarious! you guys sure made my day!
I had a scary dream yesterday that I met a very good friend of mine and he told me that he sold a Porsche Boxter for only 25,000 riyal, i didn't act sad infront of him but then he took me on a ride on another car which he wanted to sell for around 10,000 riyal immediately as the car was not his style, it was 1960's Ford GT40.
I told him that it's a classic car but he still wanted to get rid of it so then I asked him that ok, i will buy it from you and do you know what price he told me ... SAR 250,000 , i got so angry that just now he was selling it to someone else for 10,000. Anyways ... Moral of the story
Don't eat too much in the night and then sleep immediately , you'll get bad dreams.
@sly : this just keeps getting better.. and better..
I am sure that you had a couple of broasts and you fell asleep watching "Top Gear" to get dreams like that.
