hi,
here is vishal.........studying in University of Delhi.................doing part time tour guide job..... like to interact with friends from all over world........
We are Indian but welcome to you. Come to my home in India for staying in India.
Hello,
My name is Terri. I have already introduced myself (awhile back), but my plans have changed. I was set to have surgery at the beginning of April, but realized my visa to India had expired (never have I been so angry with myself), so therefore had to change my ticket along with all my plans. My surgery will be in Ahmedabad on the weekend of May 9th, 10th. I have a wonderful friend in Ahmedabad who is helping me, but after the surgery and a bit of recuperation time, I would like to find a flat to share with a roommate.
I am single and would normally want to live alone, but in India, I feel that I need to be with another person (who knows India, etc...). I will advertise in the appropriate area, but can really live anywhere in India for up to 6 months. If I like Ahmedabad, then I would like to find someone to share a place with there, but I can really live anywhere in India. Obviously my main purpose in going to India is for the surgery. I am self-employed and thus pay my own health insurance in America, and for the procedure that I am doing.......the cost is 1/5th in India, and will be done just as well. So that's my main purpose in going to India. But....... then I thought I might stay up to 6 months in India and do some volunteer work as well as writing while I am there. It would be a nice break (get-away) from my normal life here in Atlanta, Georgia, USA.
Since I have a house and car etc... in America to keep up with (the bills, etc...), I don't need to live like a queen in India, however, I do like newer/modern places with modern furnishings and kitchen appliances and A/C. I would welcome serious inquiries of people interested in flat sharing with me In Ahmedabad (first), and if that can't happen, then elsewhere. I don't have a burning desire to be in one particular city if Ahmedabad doesn't work out. An ex-pat who knows India would be great to share with, or else a native Indian who is a professional, with high standards of living. This forum has already been such a great help to me and I am very grateful.
My e-mail is: Terrilovescats@yahoo.com (not my professional e-mail).
Please, please only write to me if you are a well-established professional. And I will want to talk to you on the phone (IF I might be interested) AND also talk to you by Skype (through video), so I can SEE who you are and get to know you somewhat, and you can also see me and get a feeling about who I am. My Master's degree is in Journalism, so I will be writing about my experiences in India, etc....
Thank you,
Terri
My story may or may not be a typical 'expat' one, however there are elements I'm sure I share with many of you who do not live in the country your were born.
It started simply enough... a few summer study abroad programs. The first was within Canada when I was 12 on an exchange program to Quebec. The next was when I was 16 to Germany. Followed by France the next year.
Then a University course in the south of France - naturally neatly timed with the Cannes Film Festival. ;-)
Another course in the former Yugoslavia when it was on the precipice of change from socialist to multi-party elections, before it broke into war and several countries...
And then along came a Shastri Indo-Canadian Summer Study Abroad program to India in 1990. That changed everything.
From 1990 onwards, a pre-disposition to South Asian studies became a full-fledged focus. Fast forward to 1995 and you could find me studying in Delhi... nose buried in the dusty National Archives of India, tongue twisting around efforts to correctly pronounce Hindi Ds / Ts, hopping on and off DTC buses and laughing with friends on mad adventures at 2am.
Fast forward another twenty years and you will still find me in India... just now in Mumbai. Finding ways to juggle a myriad of interests from travel, theatre, music, writing, whisky and... the list could go on! Along the way, I was lucky enough have interesting jobs beyond India alone, with opportunities to work in several countries across Asia.
Today I work for myself, often in collaboration with other amazing professionals, with projects that take me to Indonesia, Malaysia and across Asia Pacific. I have an amazing life partner who makes everyday richer - bringing his world of theatre and film to our doorstep. I now call India home... I am proud to be a CBAD - Canadian Born, Adopted Desi.
Come share your adventures too!
You can find me at: Everyday adventures in Asia - everydayasia.com
I am an Indian resident and travelling to Portugal or UK for work next month. I am an artiste too and wanted if I could contribute in that aspect there.
Thanks,
Saket
