A family of 4 2 small girls.  We have friends in Santiago and Villarica and are looking forward leaving the USA.  We would like to know about job opportunities in either locations.  I do birth work as a doula, childbirth education, lactation counselor.  I have a BS in Gender Ethnicity and Multicultural Studies.  Postbachelors certification as mental health specialist running peer mental health groups, and doing case management in social work field.  My husband has works in eco-friendly landscaping, agriculture, and as a cook specializing in Mexican cuisine.
We are both fluent in Spanish.
How may we better prepare ourselves for the move?
How may we find employment before we get there?
How is the cost of living?

I think if you have that level of education and you want to work on that, it will be dificult get a job in Villarica. In Santiago you will have more oportunities, there is a international companies where they search people that can speak fluent english and perhaps for that reason you could try to live in Santiago.

I recommend to you that you should contact employees agencies, there is a lot of outsourcing partners that search people and search a job for you, but perhaps in ur industry you could try to find something in a public sector or foundations!

Here there is a list of british schools where your childs could be in to : www.absch.cl , here it kind of dificult speak in english so i think it will be better for they in the begining

thank you. I am also a birth doula and some people have told me there are some opportunities in that type of work there.  We are planning our leave in February of next year so we have time for more research.
