Arabs in Ho Chi Minh City?

Post new topic

MohamedTunsi

Hi all,

I literally just joined this website. I will be travelling across south east Asia over the end of May and Early June and one of the cities that I have on my itinerary is Ho Chi Minh and Hanoi. Being Arab and Muslim I was wondering if there are any of either on this blog to help me out with some issues. Food, prayer and places to see and avoid.

Oh yeah, I am a PhD student from Auckland University, Tunisian by blood, but only lived there over summers :)

Thanks in anycase!

You can find Halal food/restaurant in Q.1 and also some other districts of HCMC. There’s a mosque near Dong Khoi and also one on Tran Hung Dao.

Not sure what a Muslim needs to avoid when in a non-Muslim country, people here are tolerant, as long as you are…

and not many know but the Cham or Champa people around Phan Tiet, Phan Rang and Nha Trang have Islamic origins, perhaps that may interest you: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islam_in_Vietnam
