Cost of Expenses in Oman

Post new topic

AM12

Hi ,

I got an offer from one of the company in Muscat offering  Basic Salary RO 550 pm +RO 50 Travel Allowances. accomodation+car+fuel+utility bills shall be borne by company apart from salary. I am an average guy with an average Expenses pm.  Initially I will be coming alone and later my wife and my mother shall join me.I request you to guide me whether i take an offer or ask for more. Also let me know the prospect of my wife getting a job in Oman.

Sumitran

Hi AM12,

You should of course negotiate for more. The salary quoted is not really very good, or is really poor.

You would be able to manage as long as you are single. But with more family members joining you, you would find the going tough - even though the bulk of the expenses are going to be borne by your company.

About your wife getting a job, the chances are zero if she falls under the white-collared category. But if your wife comes under the category of female expatriate employee eligible to be issued with an employment visa - like a nurse, beautician, home care giver, tailor, etc., she can work, provided she find employment.

Thanks Sumitran,

Like Always you replied and helped. how much Should i ask over it over this??

Hi AM12,

I cannot comment on how much more you should negotiate for, but to lead a relatively comfortable life here in Oman you must target getting at least R.O. 1,000/- per month in your hand after all outgoing expenses and costs.

But that package would only be commensurate with the candidates educational background, prior work experience, industry knowledge and expertise and such.
