Moving back to Edinburgh - please advice

Post new topic

Hi everyone, I am thinking about moving back to my childhood home, Edinburgh. I would love to live as close to the city as I can but as I am disabled I need to buy a bungalow and close for bus routes etc. Can anyone tell me what good areas there are close to the city and whether they are the ideal place for me and my young daughter to be. Thanks Ann

Hi Ann, I noticed that you hadn't any replies, so i thought i'd apply my mind to your question. The main areas that i can think of, that have a reasonable number of bungalows are: Corstorphine, Blackhall, Craigleith, Kingsknowe, Craigentinny & Durham. As in common with much of the rest of the UK, Bungalows are not available in huge numbers and ones in Blackhall and Craigleith are very expensive. All these areas have good transport links, but Corstorphine bungalows are generally located on a steep hill. I would suggest that Craigleith is your best bet as it's not too far from the centre of Edinburgh and it has very good amenities including a retail park with a Sainsbury's, M&S and other good stores. Hope this helps and let me know if there's anything else i can help with. David

You might also wish to consider contacting one of the housing agencies who specialise in housing for people with disabilities.  And some housing agencies offer part ownership and their housing is usually first class.
