Hi everyone,

Last year i made a bold move to travel and stay in Cali for 3 months. I stayed with the family who invited me and who had been teaching me Spanish. By the end of the 3 months the eldest daughter and i had fallen in love. 9 months apart I then returned for only 2 weeks. Now I have made the decision to go and try to stay permanently.

Im not fluent by any means but i can hold a conversation in Spanish. What will i need to do to secure my stay?

EG
When i go, do i book a return flight or one way?
What is the best way to ship small belongings across?

Thanks for any help!

When I went to Cali in February 2015 from USA, I tried to go on a one way ticket and was not allowed. They would not let me on the airplane until I bought a return ticket.  I did not know when I was returning to the USA so I bought a refundable return ticket from United Airlines. ( it was very expensive). Then when I was ready to go back to USA I booked a cheaper ticket and returned the refundable ticket in for a 100% refund. It does take about a month for United to refund the money.
