Has anyone rented a car in MY. I'm heading back for a short visit and may need to rent a car to move around. Anyone has any first hand experience renting automobiles there?

Yes u can call this number they have a lot of car for rent and they are located in
cyber jaya. Just last week i also rent a car fro this company. 0198207485

The rates vary but around RM1k-1.5k is a ball-park figure over a longer-term rental or lease agreement.

You need a valid driving licence. If you were thinking of buying a vehicle with a loan, this can be very difficult to arrange and down payments for foreigners are always 30%.

thanks a lot for info...valid driving licence??i have valid indian 4wheeler driving licence...could that be enough??or need to take licence in malaysia too...

If you have an employment pass i.e. you are deemed resident in Malaysia, you need to get a Malaysian licence as the Indian one is only valid for 3 months. For this you need to get your Indian DL authenticated in India. See instructions on the website for the Indian High Commission in Malaysia. You can use your car DL to rent
