Jivan M

Hello all,

My name is Jivan  Italian from Genoa. I am looking to relocate in Geneva.

I've been working mostly in English speaking countries Canada, US, Australia and UK, customer service roles reception, and after my degree in International Tourism and Management moved to admin working for Hotels.

I'm fluent in French, Italian and intermediate in Spanish.

I just would like to know how long would it take to find  a simple hotel job as a receptionist or any customer service role, dedicating all my time searching a job. I have 5 plus year background plus a degree in the field.  Is there a strong request for these roles?

Although I'm Italian I always worked for UK, Canadian or Australian companies and their hiring process is very different from Italy and especially way much faster usually taking me few weeks?

What about in Geneva? can I expect to find an hotel job within a month? or I'm dreaming.

Thanks in advance for your help

Twan

I have no practical experience in this.
But keep in mind that
- due to the strong Swiss Franc, Switzerland is even more expensive for foreigners than it used to be. This has its influence on tourism and the amount of jobs available in this branche.
- Apart from tourism, Geneva has also a lot of business guests because of the international organisations like UN. May be Geneva is a bit less involved in the "Swiss Franc problems", particularly the business part of the hotel market.
- Swiss are not known for being fast. Application procedures can be quite formal.
