Hi, I am from India. I am an Electrical and Electronics Engineer with one year experience.

Recently my relative got a job in Malaysia and now he is working there. So if I go to Malaysia, accommodation wouldn't be a problem.

Will I get a job if I go to Malaysia and stay there and search for a job?

What type of visa I should apply when I go there for the first time?

Gravitas

Depends which industry you have work experience in? You will need to have a degree or equivalent qualifications. To get an Employment Pass you need a job offer with a monthly salary of RM5k basic. It has to be a job that there is a shortage of Malaysians available and advertised to them initially. Only a few companies can hire foreigners because they need to have a certain amount of capital in their company - so industrial jobs might be possible, probably nothing much else. Check out job websites to see what the adverts say - e.g. potentially Malaysian only.

You get a social visit visa (choice of single (can be extended) or multiple entry (not extendable whilst in Malaysia so you need to exit) which Indians can apply for.

You may also be able to work under the Foreign Worker permit, being an Indian - but if you find a job you have to exit Malaysia and be hired while you are in India (which takes several months)

But as you can see, there are only a few areas you can work in.

What Gravitas say is basically correct except that you can only get a normal visa to enter Malaysia i.e. entering on social visit.

Jobs in Malaysia are not easily available to foreigners and one year working experience is not a strong justification unless in very specialised field.

Thank You for your reply.

Hey cormsigg, I have a doubt. Am I allowed to bring my Degree certificate when I visit Malaysia with social visit pass.
