Hello Everyone,

Need your help for below :

I have upto four years of experience into IT and currently getting around 65K/Month in India. There is a offer for malaysia in negotiation. Expecting it to be more than 5000-6000 RM. How much I should expect as per what I am getting here in India ?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Salaries depend on local demand and are not necessarily relative to other countries.  Here is a link to a salary survey which includes IT jobs

Otherwise do some research on the Forum about what others have been offered.

Thanks for the reply Gravitas. Yes I do understand that and had actually done some amount of research and already checked the link above.

Don't want to waste too much of your time on repetitive questions on the forum. Could you please confirm/tell me below ?

- 1500-2000 RM for renting a 1BHK apartment around the above mentioned place (intended to be used by two (newly marrieds))(Apartment has to be just good)
- 1500-2000 RM for Normal food and stuff (for 2)
- 1000 for any other expenses

And rest could be saved excluding taxes somewhere around 26%.

I am finding 6000 to be less as it converts to around 100000 INR/month but the cost of living is considerably high there and I have less idea about that. I earn 65K INR/Month and expenses are 30K INR/ Month only for all above I listed.

The very reason I am asking this question is to know "how my 65kINR compares with around 100000-120000 INR in the above mentioned area"

Thanks in advance.

COL is about 35-40% higher in Malaysia especially now 6% GST (Goods and Service Tax) is added to almost everything. That can help you make the comparison of purchasing power in Malaysia.

- 1500-2200 RM for rent is possible (depends on location and age).
- 1500-1750 RM for food and household expenses
-  500 RM utilities + phone (cost will depend on prepaid or postpaid contract)
- 500-1000 RM for any other expenses, including public transport, entertainment, holidays/travel savings.

25% tax is for first 180 days and overpayment can be reimbursed in most cases according to prevailing rules. That is quite a lot of deduction initially.

You must have a basic salary of RM5k per month to bring a dependent with you.

If you intend to try and rent in Brickfields, then take a look at www.iproperty.com.my for price and type of accommodation available. One bedrooms are hard to find most places.

Thanks. You answered all. Just a last query. How much is tax after first 180 days ?

Gravitas

Apply these steps to annual salary then divide by 12 for monthly deduction

0-5,000                    0%
5,000-10,000      1% = RM50
10,001-20,000    1%  = +RM100
20,001-35,000    5%  = +RM750
35,001-50,000   10%  = +RM1,500
50,001-70,000   16% = +RM3,200
70,001-100,000   21% = +RM6,300
100,001-250,000  24% = +RM36,000
250,001-400,000  24.5% = +RM36,750
Exceeding 400 000  25%

Thank you so much. Means someone earning 100000/annum will pay tax of (50+100+750+1500+3200+6300). Think this is how it will be calculated. If its wrong I will check that out.

1500 rm for a 1 bed in kl? Where I would love to know! (I have to be able to stay there without being killed as a caveat)

Very low salary and if saving a lot in India and a good job why move?

vik_149

Yes I also think its less. Thanks for confirming. Should be at least 9000RM I think ?  :).

Gravitas

I don't think you have sufficient experience to get that level of salary and the job would need to be quite senior - see job salary guide. They will just hire someone else if you ask for that amount. Salaries are getting lower all the time here for foreigners, and there is always someone out there who will accept.

Got it :) ... Thanks...
