Owning a car in PR without a PR address

Post new topic

Hi, does anyone know if a car can be purchased, registered and driven (legally) without having a PR address?

Gary

As far as I know you need to have an address here, a letter from your landlord could do the trick.

The easiest way is to get your PR dirver's license (for which you have to provide proof of residency, of course) but once you have it, getting a car in your name is a lot simpler.

I guess getting a place to live would be #1 on your to-do list.

Oh, and welcome to the island!

Gary, thank you.

Purchased a car yesterday, went to SESCO with the previous owner to finalize transaction and transfer ownership.  We did not have to provide any proof of residnce, just gave an address to assign the title to and showed them the IL drivers license.  Way to easy, no bill of sale, no question of price, no taxes ( they need the money), just a 1.5 hour wait in line and everything is legit.

That is great it went so smoothly :)

That is the ONLY way to do it here, unless you buy new.
